Among the UK’s Top 20 Home Care Groups – for the Fifth Year Running

When you’re looking into home care for yourself or a loved one, it can be hard to know where to start. Every provider says they care. Every website shows smiling faces and talks about compassion and professionalism.

But what you really want to know is: will they turn up on time? Will the same people come each day? Will they treat Mum or Dad kindly – and will they let me know if something’s wrong?

That’s why reviews matter so much.

This week, we found out that for the fifth year running, Unique Senior Care has been named one of the Top 20 Home Care Groups in the UK, based entirely on reviews from clients and their families. The award is given by homecare.co.uk, the main review site for the care sector, and we’re proud to have made the list every year since 2021.

It’s based on real-life experiences, not a judging panel or marketing campaign. And that’s why we wanted to share it – not because it’s about us, but because it tells you something useful if you’re trying to decide what to do next.

What is the award based on?

The award is given each year to the highest-rated providers in the country. In our case, that means families across all the areas we support have left public reviews, sharing what it’s really been like to receive care from our team.

Right now, we’ve got a rating of 9.9 out of 10, based on 196 verified reviews. It shows that families feel confident recommending us, and that means a great deal to our whole team.

What families say in their reviews

Here are just a few of the comments left in recent months:

“Mum began to struggle with looking after herself at home so we engaged with Unique to supply Carers for her. The quality of staff and the care they gave to Mum was fabulous. It meant Mum could spend an extra 12 months in her own house prior to moving to a care home.”
– R.H., Coventry & Kenilworth

“Carers were excellent – kind and professional. My father was always happy to see them. We started off with a couple of hours a week and expanded the number of hours as we needed them. Even when a Carer was unable to attend, a replacement was found and fitted in on the same day. Really, no complaints.”
– A.F., Warwickshire

“I can’t say enough to show my appreciation of the unlimited care shown by the Carer for Mum. She’s very proactive – I don’t have to worry about Mum’s needs because I know her Carer will be looking for things that need doing, not just going through the motions.”

– J.R., Solihull

Why this matters if you’re considering care

Lots of people looking into home care are doing so for the first time. Often something has happened, whether it’s a fall, a hospital stay, or just a growing sense that things aren’t quite working at home.

In those moments, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. There are different types of care, costs to think about, and it can be hard to know who to trust.

That’s why we think these reviews are useful. They give a window into what care looks like on an ordinary day:

  • Does someone check in when a visit has been missed or cut short?
  • Can you speak to a real person at the office, or are you passed around?
  • Will your loved one see familiar faces, or someone new each week?

These are the kinds of things people talk about in their feedback. What makes the biggest difference isn’t bold claims, it’s how care is given each day. Being reliable, noticing the little things, and doing the job properly is what people remember.

A word from the team

Here’s what our Co-founder and Director Philip Wright-Howarth said about what this award means:

“Any recognition for our team’s work is appreciated, but this award is especially meaningful because it’s based on what families experience day to day.

What stands out to me is the consistency – our teams turn up, do things properly, and do it with care. I’m proud of everyone involved, not just when we receive recognition like this, but every single day they go out and make a difference in people’s lives.”

That sense of consistency is something we’ve always worked hard to protect. Every client is matched with a small team of regular Caregivers. Our office teams take time to understand what matters to each family, not just when building rotas but in how care is planned and supported over time. And if something’s not quite right, we try to fix it quickly and honestly.

People’s needs change, and there are always practical things to figure out along the way. But we do believe in setting high standards and sticking to them, whether someone’s receiving one visit a week or round-the-clock support.

Beyond the certificate

We know awards aren’t everything. What happens in people’s homes matters more than any headline.

But when recognition like this comes from families themselves – especially across a full year of ups and downs – it means something. It says that the care being given is not just safe and reliable, but personal and well thought-through.

It also helps others who are still making decisions. If that’s you, we’d encourage you to spend time reading through reviews (ours and others) and speak to more than one provider. Ask how they match Caregivers. Ask what happens when someone’s off sick. Ask how often they check in with families.

Good care companies won’t be thrown by those questions – they’ll welcome them.

And finally – thank you

To every client and family member who’s taken the time to leave a review: thank you. We know how busy and emotional life can be when care is involved, and it means a great deal when people go out of their way to share their experience.

And to our whole team – Caregivers, Team Leaders, office staff, trainers, schedulers, support roles – thank you for keeping things running, even on the difficult days. This award reflects your work, your standards, and the trust families place in you.

We’ll keep doing what we’ve always done: taking care, and doing things properly.

If you’re looking for support or just want to talk things through, our friendly team is here to help. Whether you’re ready to put care in place or just exploring your options, we’re happy to chat. Give us a call or drop us a message.
