Each Caregiver completes our award-winning training and values-based onboarding. Just as importantly, they must pass our most important test: would we trust this person to care for our own mum or dad? Only a small number make it through, going on to make a real difference for the families they support.

As directly employed staff, our Caregivers go through a careful recruitment process in line with the Health and Social Care Act and CQC regulations, followed by structured induction and ongoing training.

Your Caregiver is fully managed, supported, and paid by us. That means families can focus on spending time together at home rather than worrying about the practicalities of arranging care.

Who Are Your Live In Carers?

Our live in care team is broad and diverse, spanning a large age range, gender and with an array of previous experience.

Because they are choosing to work and reside in our families' homes we're able to recruit from all over the UK; we also have some team members who are ex-pats and combine working in the UK on long rotations with their home abroad.

It is important that you are involved in the matching and selection process for your loved one, that is why we will always send you a live-in carer profile that gives you a good insight into their professional and personal lives. As an idea here are some of our current live in carer team:

Your carers follow the personalised care plan created by your care manager and ensure its effectiveness as your needs change. They are attentive to your preferences and work diligently to make sure your care experience is both comfortable and supportive.

Whether it’s helping with your morning routine and making the tea just how you like it,  or engaging in your favourite activities to pass an afternoon, they can be a constant companion.

This consistency of presence means that your live in carers also play a vital role in monitoring your health and well-being.

They are trained to notice subtle changes in your health, enabling them to address any issues promptly and thus keep you as healthy and active as possible.

Unique Senior Care carers

What do live in carers need ?

Your Live-in Caregiver will need their own private room where they can sleep and store their belongings, such as a wardrobe or chest of drawers. Anything else you provide to make them comfortable is always appreciated, but entirely at your discretion.

Live-in Care usually involves around 8–10 hours of support spread across the day, depending on the needs of the person receiving care. Your Caregiver will also need a daily break of at least two hours, which your Care Manager will help arrange so support continues smoothly.

Sleep is important too. While a Caregiver can usually help with a couple of night-time wake-ups, they should normally be able to get several hours of uninterrupted sleep. If regular night support is needed, your Care Manager can talk through other options.

WiFi access helps your Caregiver stay connected and keep the care plan updated. We also ask families to provide a £40 weekly food allowance, either through the household shop or added to your invoice. The Recruitment Process for Live-In Care

Your live-in carer goes through extensive initial training and continuous professional development to ensure they are always equipped to provide the best bespoke care possible. Here’s an overview of the training they receive:

  • Application Review: Potential Caregivers begin by submitting an application outlining their experience and qualifications. Our recruitment team carefully reviews each one to identify individuals who meet our standards and values.

  • Initial Contact: If an application looks promising, we arrange an initial conversation to discuss the role and next steps. This is where we begin asking the question that matters most: would we trust this person to care for our own mum or dad?

  • Interviews: Candidates then take part in interviews where we explore their care experience, empathy, and approach. This helps us identify people who are both capable and genuinely suited to supporting others.

  • Compliance Documentation and Background Checks: Successful candidates provide essential documentation, including references and right-to-work checks. We also carry out enhanced DBS checks to ensure they meet the safety standards required to work in care.

  • Training and Induction: Before supporting clients, Caregivers complete 5 days of face-to-face training led by our Learning and Development Team. This fully prepares them for the standards, responsibilities, and expectations of the role.

  • Skills Evaluation: Practical assessments help confirm that each Caregiver can apply their training safely and confidently. This ensures they are prepared to provide reliable support in a client’s home.

  • Meet and Greet: Before care begins, Caregivers meet with their manager to review the care plan, expectations, and practical arrangements. This helps them feel prepared and ensures they understand the needs of the person they will support.

  • Ongoing Support and Development: Once care begins, your Care Manager visits on day 1 and again on day 7, followed by regular review visits. Caregivers also continue their development, working towards the Care Certificate within their first three months where required.

What Training and Development do Carers do Before Delivering Live-in Care?

    • Personal Care Techniques: Helping with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and hygiene to make sure you receive gentle and effective support.
    • Administering Medication: Learning the proper procedures for giving medication safely and correctly.
    • Specialised Training: Managing conditions like dementia, Parkinson’s, and mobility issues to meet your unique health needs with care and sensitivity.
    • Health and Safety: Learning protocols to prevent accidents and keep your home safe, including mobility assistance and being prepared for emergencies.
    • Home Management Skills: Getting trained in essential housekeeping and cooking skills to keep your home clean and comfortable and to prepare tasty, home-cooked meals.
  • Ongoing Professional Development: Your carer benefits from continuous learning opportunities, including regular training sessions and workshops.

    This commitment to ongoing education keeps their skills sharp and up-to-date, making sure you always receive the most current and effective care.

  • Specialised Training Programs: On top of the mandatory training they receive during induction, your carer also gets extra training for specific health conditions and care needs, like dementia care, palliative care, and mobility support.
