Overseeing care day to day, ensuring clients feel supported and Caregivers have what they need to deliver consistent, reliable care.
Ensuring care is well managed day to day, so clients feel supported and Caregivers can deliver consistent, reliable care.
With over 30 years of experience as a Paediatric Sister, Kate McGourlay brings significant clinical knowledge and a calm, practical approach to her role as Live-in Care Manager for the East of England. She is responsible for overseeing care delivery, supporting Caregivers, and ensuring each client receives care that is safe, consistent, and tailored to their needs.
Kate spent three decades working in a busy hospital environment, where she was responsible for maintaining high standards of care, supporting families, and making informed clinical decisions. This experience gives her a strong foundation for managing care in the home, particularly where needs may be complex or changing.
Since moving into live-in care, Kate has applied her clinical background to supporting clients and Caregivers day to day. She carries out regular visits, reviews care plans and medication, and works closely with her team to ensure care remains well organised and responsive.
Her approach is grounded in practical support, clear communication, and a genuine focus on helping people feel comfortable, settled, and well looked after.

In Kate's words..
My insights on delivering consistent care at home
"Good care at home doesn’t happen by chance, it comes from regular oversight, clear communication, and Caregivers who feel supported in their role.
My focus is on keeping care consistent day to day by visiting regularly, reviewing care plans, and making sure everything is working as it should. Supporting Caregivers to feel confident is a key part of this.
When communication is clear and everyone understands their role, care becomes more settled and reliable for both clients and families."
How I got into my role
"I spent 30 years working as a Paediatric Sister in a hospital setting before moving into live-in care. I wanted to use my experience in a more personal, one-to-one way.
Although I moved from working with children to supporting older adults, many of the same skills apply. It’s still about understanding people, supporting families, and making sure care is delivered safely and consistently.
My role now allows me to stay closely involved, visiting clients and Caregivers and making sure care is running as it should."
