How Lucy supports colleagues and clients
Lucy plays a central role in shaping Unique Senior Care’s internal culture. She sets the tone for how colleagues work together and ensures that every People initiative aligns with our values of compassion, respect, and consistency.
She leads the design of recruitment and onboarding processes, making sure every new colleague receives a warm welcome and the right start. Lucy also champions Caregiver wellbeing throughout their journey with us, from early training and mentorship to ongoing support and recognition. Her work includes developing leadership pathways, guiding performance and development reviews, and supporting succession planning across teams.
Lucy has also played a key role in Unique Senior Care being named Princess Royal Training Award winners three times - twice for our approach to leadership and development, and once for our Live‑in Caregiver Induction. Her leadership in shaping culture, training, and wellbeing has helped create an environment where people feel valued and stay - recognition that reflects the quality of our people and the care we provide.
Lucy also oversees diversity and inclusion initiatives, ensuring that everyone feels safe, respected, and able to contribute fully. She works closely with external organisations, including Skills for Care, to align learning and development with national standards and share best practice across the care sector. By connecting wellbeing, training, and culture, she helps create an environment where colleagues can thrive and clients receive the best possible care.

In Lucy's words..
My insights on recruitment and culture
"I’ve always believed that people are at the heart of great care.
A strong people strategy goes beyond recruitment and retention; it involves really listening to colleagues and understanding what helps them do their best work. I focus on making sure every Caregiver feels supported and appreciated, from their first day of onboarding through to ongoing development and recognition.
When colleagues feel confident, respected, and part of something meaningful, it naturally shows in the quality and consistency of care we provide for clients."
How I got into my role
"I’ve always been drawn to work that puts people at the centre of everything. Early in my career, I realised that by supporting and developing colleagues, I could make a real difference to the quality of care clients receive.
Over time, that passion for helping others grow led me into recruitment and leadership roles, where I’ve been able to shape how teams are built and supported. That journey is what brought me to my role today as Director of People at Unique Senior Care - where creating the right culture is key to delivering excellent care."
