Unique Senior Care in Rugby

Rugby is a bustling Warwickshire town famous for being the birthplace of Rugby Football and its Public School.

Unique Senior Care provides a wide range of homecare services in Rugby and the surrounding areas. Our aim is to ensure you or your loved one receive compassionate, relationship-based care that enables you to remain living in the comfort of your own home and you can be assured that your care and support will be delivered with patience, dignity and respect.

Our services can include hourly companionship calls through to live-in care and specialist complex care.

We have a very experienced office support team, who are proud to have been rated Outstanding (not once but twice) by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) This rating is awarded to less than 5% of all domiciliary homecare providers and confirms that our hourly and live-in care is of the very highest standard.

The safe delivery of care is our number one priority, and we will always take the necessary steps to ensure you receive the safest care possible – and our directly employed carers are PCR tested for COVID-19 on a weekly basis. They are also DBS checked and our minimum expectation is that they pass our ‘Mum test’ where being caring, kind and considerate is second nature.

As you would expect, all our team receive thorough, on-going training, so you can look forward to receiving the highest quality homecare in Rugby through our domiciliary, companionship, respite and end of life and palliative care.

Our unique organisation was set up by Directors Philip Maundrill and Philip Wright-Howarth ten years ago with one clear aim – to provide the quality of care that they had wanted for their own loved ones; but sadly did not receive.

We have a systematic focus on quality, we focus on ‘People above all else’ where continuous improvement is embedded in our everyday practices. This ensures we learn from everything we do, which supports us in consistently delivering an outstanding service.

Our clients should be able to live their lives as they choose, and we strive to achieve this through our range of services which may include helping them with their usual daily routines in the morning and/or at bed-time; assisting with meals and with any medication requirements or by providing companionship to enable you to do the things you enjoy.

Jo and Kim in particular have been amazing, their company, help, care and humour have been second to none and they have become the daughters my Mum wishes she’d of had. Thanks again for you/your teams help – the best thing we ever did for my Mum was getting your company in to help her through a very traumatic time.

Thank you for the skill and care of which you introduced yourself today at the initial assessment. I think that is the longest time they have spent with anyone other than family in maybe two years, and in their own separate ways they very much warmed to you. Fantastic work.

What makes us different?

Only 5% of homecare providers are rated Outstanding by the CQC – we have been awarded this rating on two occasions.

Punctuality is as important to us as it is you, so we will arrive on time – every time.

We know that continuity of carer leads to happier clients, so our aim is to never send a stranger – we will always try to send the same carer.

Quality care cannot be delivered in 15 or 30 minute slots – so our minimum call is 1 hour.

Our reputation is important, so, as you would expect we have very high standards.

Our clients tell us that they do not want our staff to look like pseudo Nurses – so they do not wear uniforms.

Our services are designed to enable our clients to remain living where they want to ie the comfort of their own home, surrounded by the people and things they love.

Services

Services we offer in the Rugby area:

Hourly care

Our domiciliary care services are all designed with one aim – to meet the varied needs of our clients.

A single hourly call per day can be scheduled, or more if required, and for additional peace of mind we can provide help at night with our sleeping or waking night care service, should you or your loved one be concerned about being alone overnight.

All of our services are tailormade to ensure you receive the appropriate care how and when you need it. We can help with companionship, light housekeeping, personal care, dementia care, specialist care for complex conditions, through to end of life and palliative care.

Our bespoke approach ensures our care plans incorporate your unique needs and are written after Katie, our Registered Manager has had the opportunity to meet with you and possibly your family. This ensures we fully understand your individual circumstances and how we can ensure we provide the most appropriate service.

Live-in and 24 hour Care

In some circumstances, live-in or 24 hour care can be a more appropriate solution to meet your needs than an hourly service. Live-in care can also be more cost effective than moving to a residential care setting or nursing home.

So, you can remain in the comfort of your own home, surrounded by the things you love and be supported with our live-in care service providing all the care you require.

All of our live-in carers are experienced and are directly employed by ourselves – unlike some care companies who only provide self-employed, unregulated staff.

So you can be assured that you will be receiving care from a regulated provider who is rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and that we will manage all the day to day issues, so you will not have to worry.

Our carers will quickly get to know your preferred routine and will ensure you get all the help you need – at the time you need it.

Homecare Visits in and around Rugby

Home Help

Our friendly carers can keep your home in tip-top condition and provide help around the house such as hoovering, cleaning or a spring clean to ensure your home always looks lovely.

Sometimes, your loved one may have concerns about receiving care and in these instances our home help service can be an excellent way to get them some initial support.

Companionship

We sadly hear all to often the impact that loneliness and self-isolation can have on the elderly.

Our popular companionship service can make such a difference to the well-being of you or your loved one. It can provide the opportunity for social engagement, help with attending a family event or appointment or allow you to maintain your interests or hobbies.

Our carers love providing companionship calls as they see the positive impact they make in enriching their clients lives.

Personal Care

We recognise that personal care is exactly that ie personal and private, so you can be assured that our experienced team will be sensitive and understanding to any concerns that you may have about personal care.

Our carers are trained to provide safe and caring support with your morning and evening routines so you can complete your washing/bathing, shaving or and medication needs with dignity.

Dementia Care

A diagnosis of dementia will probably be life changing for the sufferer and devastating to their family and the related personality changes can be distressing; so, a good understanding of the condition is important to enable effective management of these issues.

Unique Senior Care have extensive experience of providing care to those living with dementia and memory issues. Our carers receive specialist training to ensure they have the skills to support our clients and their families and they are supported by a wider specialist team including a Memory Support specialist, Dementia Champions and friends and our expert learning and development team.

The care needs of those living with dementia requires careful, close collaboration between all health partners ie GP’s, Admiral Nurses, specialist agencies etc, so we will ensure that our team liaises accordingly to share any observations and if necessary adjust the care plan as required.

Respite Care

Informal carers provide much needed support and care, and this brings with it a burden of responsibility and challenges.

Our Respite service can provide much needed breaks from the day to day demands of providing care for your loved one. These breaks can be an hour a day or for an extended daily break or to support with overnight visits to provide much needed sleep. Our hourly and live-in  carers are able to help.

Palliative/end of life care

We have a lot of experience of providing high quality palliative (end of life) care when you need it most – at this very difficult time.

You can be assured that your loved ones care will be provided with dignity, compassion and sensitivity. Our carers will be kind and patient and will liaise with the other specialist nursing teams that may be involved with their care, to ensure they are comfortable and receiving all the care they require.

Or aim is for you and your family to be able to spend as much time as possible with your loved one.

Specialist Care

Specialist care for those with complex needs requires detailed understanding of the condition/s involved.

We have extensive experience of providing specialist care for those living with complex conditions and our domiciliary hourly care and live-in carers receive all the necessary training to support people living with Learning Disabilities, MS, Parkinson’s, or may have suffered a stroke.

We will work with other specialist agencies to coordinate your care and you can be assured you will receive the appropriate – with a view to enabling you to remain living in the comfort of your own home.
