Nutritional Support – Specialist Diets
As we get older, fuelling our bodies with the right foods becomes a big part of staying fit and well. But, as appetites and dietary needs change, ensuring the right nutritional support for elderly loved ones isn’t always easy.
At Unique Senior Care, we take time to get to know each person – from what they like to eat and any dietary requirements, to how they like their meals served. Our carers bring warmth, patience and skill to every visit, whether that’s cooking a favourite meal, helping with food shopping, or supporting special diets.

How our Nutritional Support service works

At Unique Senior Care, we start by getting to know your loved one — their favourite meals, any health concerns, and what mealtimes are like for them.
A specialist care manager will visit your home to chat about their diet, appetite and any special requirements, such as swallowing difficulties, diabetes or a low-salt diet. This helps us build a clear picture of what support is needed.
From there, we create a simple, personal elderly nutrition support plan. This could include planning menus, doing the weekly food shop, preparing meals and snacks at home, and checking in regularly to see how things are going.
If food shopping is tricky, we can help with that too. Our food shopping services for elderly clients include accompanying your loved one to the shops, or taking care of the groceries for them — making sure we choose foods they enjoy and can eat safely.
Our carers don’t just cook and serve meals. They help with hydration, offer company at mealtimes, and make eating a pleasant, social part of the day. We also keep an eye out for any changes in appetite, weight or mood, and work closely with GPs or dietitians if something needs adjusting.
Good nutrition links closely to overall wellbeing, so we make sure the plan fits smoothly with other home-care support, like personal care or companionship.
